Recovery Wrench Project began with a simple idea: reliable transportation can change someone’s life.
While working with individuals in recovery, it became clear that many people struggle to maintain employment, attend treatment programs, and meet court obligations because they do not have reliable transportation. In many communities, especially rural areas, there is little or no public transportation available.
After seeing how something as simple as a broken vehicle could prevent someone from moving forward, the idea for Recovery Wrench Project was created. By using mechanical skills and community support, the project focuses on repairing vehicles and providing transportation assistance to individuals rebuilding their lives in recovery.
What started as helping a few people repair their vehicles quickly showed how powerful this type of support could be. One repair helped a working mother with a newborn regain transportation to work and childcare. Another donated vehicle was repaired and provided to someone living in sober housing who previously had to pay for rides to attend treatment and recovery meetings.
These early experiences demonstrated that transportation is one of the biggest barriers people face while trying to rebuild their lives.
Recovery Wrench Project continues to grow with the goal of expanding automotive repair assistance, accepting donated vehicles, and partnering with treatment programs and sober living homes to support individuals working toward long-term recovery and stability.
Repairing Vehicles • Restoring Lives • Supporting Recovery
Recovery Wrench Project was created by Jesse Quisenberry, an individual with lived experience in long-term addiction and recovery.
For more than twenty years, addiction impacted many areas of Jesse’s life, ultimately leading to legal consequences and incarceration. Through treatment, structured recovery programs, and a personal commitment to change, Jesse began rebuilding his life one step at a time.
During recovery, Jesse learned that long-term sobriety is strengthened through several key elements:
• treatment
• structured recovery programs
• meaningful work
• accountability
• mentorship
• service to others
Jesse has always had a strong interest and skill set in mechanical work and automotive repair. Through recovery, he realized these skills could be used not only to rebuild his own life, but also to help others facing similar challenges.
Recovery Wrench Project was created to bring these elements together in a practical, skill-based environment. By repairing vehicles and providing transportation support, the program helps individuals in recovery maintain employment, attend treatment and recovery meetings, meet court obligations, and regain independence.
The goal of Recovery Wrench Project is simple: remove transportation barriers and create opportunities for individuals rebuilding their lives.
Recovery Wrench Project is continuing to grow through community support, hands-on mechanical work, and a commitment to helping individuals rebuild their lives in recovery.
What began as helping a few people repair vehicles has already made a real impact. Through donated vehicles, mechanical repairs, and volunteer effort, individuals in recovery have regained reliable transportation so they can get to work, attend treatment programs, participate in recovery meetings, and meet court obligations.
These early efforts have demonstrated how something as simple as a reliable vehicle can remove a major barrier for people working to rebuild their lives.
Recovery Wrench Project is still in its early stages, but the goal is to continue expanding its reach by:
• repairing vehicles for individuals in recovery
• accepting donated vehicles from the community
• partnering with sober living homes and treatment programs
• creating opportunities for individuals to develop mechanical skills and meaningful work
By combining practical skills, community support, and service to others, Recovery Wrench Project aims to help more individuals regain independence and stability as they move forward in their recovery journey.

Why Transportation Matters
Reliable transportation is one of the most overlooked barriers facing individuals in recovery. Without dependable transportation, many people struggle to maintain employment, attend treatment programs, participate in recovery meetings, or meet court obligations.
In many communities, especially smaller cities and rural areas, public transportation is limited or unavailable. A single mechanical issue can quickly create a crisis for someone trying to rebuild their life.
By repairing vehicles and providing transportation assistance, Recovery Wrench Project helps remove this barrier so individuals can stay focused on their recovery, maintain stability, and continue moving forward.
Looking Ahead
Recovery Wrench Project is still in its early stages, but the long-term vision is to expand the program to serve more individuals and communities.
Future goals include expanding vehicle repair assistance, accepting more donated vehicles, partnering with treatment centers and sober living homes, and creating opportunities for individuals in recovery to develop mechanical skills and meaningful work.
By continuing to grow through community support and service, Recovery Wrench Project aims to help more individuals regain independence and rebuild their lives.
